Buying directly from the fisherman we maintain trip by trip landing records and have total traceability from the source to the customer. This information; Fishing gear method, FAO area, landing date; is normally made available in the product labeling process if requested.
Doucet Fisheries Ltd has buyers that communicate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 Days a year with most of the independent fish harvesters. The gear types used are the otter trawl and long line. Our trucks are lined up waiting at the port of landing early (typically 4am to 6am) transported to the Doucet Fisheries processing facility in Comeaauville, Nova Scotia. The fish is usually converted (processed) to fresh boneless fillets and shipped the same day to our customers in the fresh state.
